You'll love magic links for 3 reasons:
- You'll never have to remember your password again
- It's the safest way to protect your privacy and remove security risks
- A simple login experience that remembers you
For the majority of Jasper users, you will never see magic links. Once you're logged in, Jasper remembers you and won’t kick you out. So you'll rarely have to use your Magic Link.
Prefer not to use Magic Links? Currently sharing logins?
There's a lot of security benefits to Magic Links, but if you prefer to use Google Auth that's great too. If you share your login with others, instead head over to the team page in the Jasper app to add users for free! This way you won't have to give out your personal password, each user get a personal project folder, and account admins can track the word count usage across users. If you are still adamant about sharing 1 account login, you can use Magic Links and send people your 1-time passcode.
Now let's dive into why Magic Links are a better way.
You'll never have to remember your password again
It's time to say goodbye to passwords and hello to Magic Links! Password management is a pain, and it's not always easy to remember all those pesky passwords. Just type in your email and you'll receive an email with a link and code that you can use to finish logging in. Magic links are already used by popular services like Slack and Notion, and we're confident that our users will love them too.
Magic Links are a safer way to protect your privacy and remove security risks
With the increased use of magic links, there is a decreased risk for privacy and security breaches. Magic links are more secure than passwords because they cannot be guessed and they are not stored in plain text. Additionally, magic links can be revoked if they are compromised, whereas passwords cannot be easily reset if they are compromised.
Some people use the same password for all their online accounts, from their social media to their bank accounts. This is a really bad idea and leaves you open to having all of your accounts hacked if one password is compromised. But even if you do not use the same password for everything, you're still not safe. Passwords can be guessed by advanced bots, and even stolen in a data breach. That's why it's important to use two-factor authentication systems whenever possible. Magic Links remove this risk of a personal password getting in the wrong hands.
A simple login experience that remembers you
How annoying is it when you have to follow a bunch of rules for a password? Sometimes, rules can get a little absurd. And often rules are never the same, so you have to add numbers, remove special symbols, and that's all really hard to remember the variations. At that point, you throw up your hands and click "reset password". We've all been there and feel your pain. A password-less experience is more much simpler.
Once you're logged in once, Jasper remembers you so you won't always have to login.
You’ll need to use Magic Links:
- When you sign in with Jasper on a new computer
- If you haven’t signed in for more than 30 days, it’ll ask you to sign in with magic links again.
You will not need to use magic links if:
- You click “Continue with Google”
- You open a new window or tab
- You close Jasper for the day and come back later
- You’re already logged in
How do Magic Links work?
When you go to log in to Jasper at app.jasper.ai, you'll be asked to enter your email. You'll instantly get an email with a button and a code. Click the link and you're in — that is the simplest way to access your Jasper account. Alternatively, you can enter the unique code sent to your email.
