Every once in a while a technological advancement comes along that changes everything.  I’ve been lucky enough to witness a handful of these in my career and lifetime. And although it’s the technology itself that is new and remarkable, each time, I am far more fascinated and excited by the human capacity that gets unlocked as a result.

Generative AI, or using AI for creative work, has been such a moment for me. The potential of AI to unlock creative potential has been a fascination of mine for the last five years.  It’s why my long-time co-founders and I launched Jasper just over a year and a half ago and why I am grateful to announce today that we have secured a $125 million series A funding round at a $1.5 billion valuation.

The funding comes from a collection of top firms and individuals I deeply respect. It was led by global software investor Insight Partners and joined by other leading firms including Coatue, Bessemer Venture Partners, IVP, Foundation Capital, Founders Circle CapitalHubSpot Ventures and more. In addition to the names you’ll see in our press release today, I also want to thank the long-tail of investors who stepped up to advance our work, including David Cancel, Amjad Masad, Shaan Puri, Emad Mostaque, Doug Merritt, Mathilde Collin, Clem Delangue, Andrew Feldman, Gary Constance, John Bautista, and Anthony Maslowski among others. We are so lucky to have their advice, funding, and partnership in this journey.

True to the hyperactivity we’ve felt for AI over the last year, we couldn’t just announce a funding round without also announcing new product updates that are going to extend what Jasper can do for you. The new funding and valuation means a lot to us as a company, and I appreciate all the words of support we’ve gotten about it, but I know what matters more is what this funding will unlock for you, our customers. Beginning today, here are some exciting new updates for you, our customers, and just the start of what this new funding will enable.

Jasper Art Can Now Be Bought As a Standalone

A couple of months ago, we launched Jasper Art as an add-on to our customers. Since then we’ve seen tens of thousands of images generated straight from our customers' imaginations into reality.  I could not be more proud or awed by the work I’ve seen from our customers using this tool in such a short time span.  One mother, Chrissy Carol, used Jasper Art to collaborate with her seven-year-old son Devon on a children’s book and teach him about the publishing industry.

“Jasper [is] helping teach my 7 year old about business. We used Jasper to help write the story he wanted to tell, and Jasper Art to illustrate. [I] showed him the backend process on Amazon, talked about pricing and profits (He was pretty mad when he realized he doesn't get 100% of the sales price), discussed a marketing plan, got it live and now just waiting for our copy to arrive so we can make sure it's all good before he starts marketing it to family and friends.”

That book, Jimmy’s Jungle Adventure, now sells on Amazon. We also proudly have several copies on display at our Jasper Headquarters in Austin.  While many people are using Jasper Art alongside of the writing they create using the rest of the AI Content Platform, we’ve also heard from people who just want access to Jasper Art. So we’ve decided to make Jasper Art available for sale as a stand-alone tool, even if you’re not ready for the full AI Content Platform you can buy Jasper Art for $20/month here.

Introducing the First Ever Jasper Browser Extension

We’ve worked hard on things like Boss Mode to make sure Jasper is a joy to use when you log-into our platform, but writing happens everywhere - from emails to social media, internal wikis to marketing tools. So we’ve decided to bring Jasper everywhere too. That’s why I couldn’t be more excited to tell you that, now, Jasper works everywhere you do. Introducing our first ever browser extension - made for Chrome with more browsers and formats on the way. Once you enable the extension, Jasper can be called up just about anywhere you create content online. Some of our favorite uses include creating content on Notion, Google Docs, Linkedin, Gmail, Shopify, Canva, and HubSpot. You can get the Chrome Extension here. Jasper has packed his bags and is ready to go; we’d love to see where you take him. Be sure to share the feedback in #JasperNation and leave a review in the Chrome Store. We’d love to hear how it’s going.

A Thank You to Our Customers

We talk all the time inside Jasper about how much of where we are today has been defined and propelled by our community of users. The near 70,000 people in our #JasperNation Community sharing AI recipes, supporting each other’s work, and pushing us to be better. The collection of Jasper customers who help us invent and shape new features.  We are so grateful to all of you.  As a thank you to those who have been so loyal to us, we’re giving every customer 10,000 free credits. If you’re an annual customer you’ll get a bonus of 150,000 credits to celebrate this milestone. Monthly customers can switch to annual anytime between now and November 1st and you’ll get the same bonus, and of course save 17% by being an annual user.  Thank you again for everything you do to make Jasper better and help teach the world what AI-assisted content can do. Subscribe to an annual plan here.

The last few months have been the most productive in this company’s history, but where we’re headed is going to make that look small by comparison. We have one more major announcement coming soon… oh and maybe another right after that.  You’ll have to stay tuned.

Believe me when I tell you, we understand that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape a world-changing technological advancement in its earliest days. Seizing that opportunity is our whole focus. We believe AI can expand human potential. Those who tap into it will discover new ways to express their imagination, streamline their daily workflows, and get more out of what they create.

Since this is a rapidly evolving technology, we’re also looking forward to being an educational resource for companies learning to adopt AI for the first time.  In the next year, we're going to see new models emerge, increasing interoperability, and mind-blowing improvements in the creative results.  But for any technology to really change the world, it has to progress from magic to practical.

We see our part in this larger technological shift as helping bridge the gap between AI availability and practical applicability by being the platform businesses use to scale their content throughout marketing, sales, and customer service. That begins by making generative AI more accessible for businesses, but is also about choosing the right combination of AI models for the right use case and evolving to incorporate the unique styles and knowledge base of each business. We could not be more ready or excited for this challenge.

As a final note, I just want to say how grateful we are to the customers, partners, and investors who have been an essential part of this story. Navigating new creative models and unlocking use-cases only happens when you have a community as engaged and curious as ours.  We have grown smarter for every conversation, every piece of feedback, and every new story you’ve shared.  And we look forward to the countless ways you’ll continue to raise the bar for us and this technology.
