Jasper Joins Forces with Figma to Power New AI Background Removal Feature

Jasper x Figma for AI background removal

Jasper was recently selected to power Figma’s in-product AI background removal tool, unveiled June 26th at its annual Config conference. The tool is part of Figma's exciting new suite of in-app AI features to help designers to stay in the flow and avoid hitting speed bumps in their processes.

“With Figma AI, designers can focus on more strategic work because time-consuming tasks like creating placeholder content or wiring up prototypes are now automated,” said Yuhki Yamashita, Chief Product Officer at Figma. “This includes common tasks like background removal,” he added.

Figma's background removal tool is powered by Jasper’s API and allows users to remove the background of any image directly in Figma, without using any external tools or plugins, which is a huge game changer for designer workflows.

“For so long, designers have had to rely on various workarounds for removing a flat image’s background," said Jasper's Creative Director Jess Rosenberg. "Now, with the Jasper API integration within Figma, it’ll be easier than ever to keep this simple action right within your Figma workflow so you can stay in flow state longer, and avoid toggling between tools.”

Alongside background removal, Figma announced five other AI features for users:

• Visual search
• Layer renaming
• Rewriting & translation
• Generate, sort, and summarize within FigJam
• Generate and replace text within design mocks
